NEW YORK — At a time when fashion and music are increasingly intertwined, multi-instrumentalist and producer Wendy Belfort is carving out a distinctive sonic lane—one that bridges continents, cultures, and creative disciplines.

During New York Fashion Week, Belfort delivered a powerful statement at Sony Hall, a prestigious venue in the heart of Manhattan owned by Sony. Operated as a live performance space, Sony Hall is designed to showcase the company’s cutting-edge audio, visual, and listening technologies—making it a fitting stage for a show where sound played a central role.

His genre-blending compositions soundtracked the runway presentation of rising cultural luxury brand DRIIVIIN, transforming the moment into a fully immersive sensory experience.

A true musical polymath, Belfort is proficient in guitar, piano, and drums—an adaptability that has made him a sought-after force behind the scenes. He often credits his father for first encouraging him to pursue music, a foundational influence that helped shape both his discipline and creative ambitions. Today, his production credits span a range of influential Haitian rappers and Kompa artists, as well as collaborators across the United States, Canada and Africa.

At Sony Hall, Belfort’s sound enters  into a more visible spotlight. His latest compositions—rich with the rhythmic pulse of Afrobeats and the soulful cadence of Haitian Kompa—set the tone for DRIIVIIN’s runway show, creating an atmosphere that transcended traditional fashion presentations.

The show marked a deliberate departure from the sonic norms of high fashion.

“We wanted to bring something atypical,” said Peace Simon, founder and creative director of DRIIVIIN. “Music that reflects where we come from—our roots, our identity. It’s about exposing the high fashion audience to something new, something real, something culturally grounded.”

Beyond the sound itself, the collaboration carried a deeper message—one rooted in recognition.

Too often, audiences fall in love with the final product without seeing the process behind it—the long nights, the discipline, and the unseen sacrifices required to create something meaningful. At DRIIVIIN, that narrative is being reshaped.

“At DRIIVIIN, we want to celebrate everyone—especially those behind the scenes,” Simon added. “The ones investing countless nights crafting sounds, shaping emotions, and ultimately bringing pleasure to our ears. This is about honoring the creators as much as the creation.”

That philosophy reached its peak during the final look of the show. The Kompa rhythm that carried the closing moment was created under the direction of Peace Simon, who has also served as a mentor to Belfort over the past five years—guiding him in discovering and refining his unique sonic identity.

The moment became more than a finale; it was a statement.

Echoing the collection’s title, “I Was Here,” Wendy Belfort used sound as a signature—an audible imprint of presence, purpose, and legacy. Through rhythm and melody, he wasn’t merely scoring a runway and the short film that accompanied the collection; he was marking the beginning of his place in the global music world.

Currently collaborating with APRESYE Sound Group, an initiative committed to cultivating artists deeply dedicated to their craft, Belfort continues to push creative boundaries while remaining grounded in authenticity.

With his work now resonating not only in studios and across streaming platforms, but also on one of fashion’s most prestigious stages, Wendy Belfort is a name to watch in the coming years—quietly, yet unmistakably, shaping the future of global sound.
